Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson nasceu no dia 25 de
outubro de 1984 em Santa Barbara, Califórnia, Estados Unidos da América.
É a segunda filha do casal de pastores Keith e Mary Hudson. Em uma
entrevista com o Jornal Metro Internacional de Portugal, Katy Perry
disse que possue ascendência portuguesa por parte da mãe. Katy também é
sobrinha dos directores e roteiristas cinematográficos Frank e Eleanor

semanas antes do lançamento em 2004. Em 2005, assinou novamente com a
Columbia Records e conheceu o produtor musical Glen Ballard, com quem
compôs algumas canções como “Box”, “Diamonds” e “Long Shot”, que vieram a
constituir o álbum Diamonds. Infelizmente, o álbum foi cancelado e
algumas canções foram renomeadas e passaram a pertencer à Kelly
Clarkson.
Em
2007 assinou contrato com a Capitol Records e iniciou-se o período de
sucesso da cantora. Lançado em 20 de novembro do mesmo ano, o EP Ur So
Gay foi a primeira edição. A canção foi elogiada por Madonna, “É a minha
música favorita” diz em uma entrevista. O EP visava introduzir a
cantora na indústria musical, que acabou transformando-a em uma
celebridade. Além deste objetivo, o EP foi um meio que Perry usou para

N Cold é o segundo single do álbum, lançado em 9 de setembro de 2008

terceira posição na Billboard, alcançando a marca de mais de 6 milhões
de unidades no mundo inteiro. Assim como I Kissed a Girl, o single foi
composto por Perry, Dr. Luke e Max Martin e tornou-se uma das músicas

Tornou-se segundo lugar do top five em mais de dez países, incluindo
